Laundry hampers
The types of laundry hampers that you use depends greatly
upon how you do your laundry:
· Do you do your laundry at home or at a Laundromat?
· Do you divide your laundry into lights and darks, permanent
press and delicates, or any other categories? Or do you just throw all
your laundry into the machine at once?
· Do you do children’s laundry?
· Do you do the laundry often?
· Do you keep your laundry hampers hidden in closets or out in
the open?
· Do you place wet laundry in your laundry hamper?
If you do your laundry at the Laundromat, you are most definitely going
to want a laundry hamper that is very easy to tote along. You may also
think of getting using a laundry bag or something else that hides from
view the contents of your laundry.
If you divide your laundry (as most of us do), you should look at laundry
hampers with dividers. This way, you can divide your laundry as you
throw it into the hamper, thereby saving yourself time when it comes
to doing the wash.
If you have children, it is a good idea to place laundry hampers in
their rooms. Children have a way of just throwing clothing on their
floors if they don’t want to walk all the way to the hall laundry
hamper. Having their own can teach kids to clean up after themselves.
If you do laundry often, you should consider using rolling laundry
hampers. These can lessen the task of doing laundry.
If you keep your laundry hampers where they are visible most of the
time – in your bathroom or bedroom and not in a closet –
you should consider getting a wicker hamper or a wooden one. These are
generally much more attractive than basic plastic laundry baskets which
can be unsightly.
If you place wet laundry in your laundry hamper, though, you should
avoid wicker. While wicker is great for regular laundry because it naturally
allows the laundry to vent, wet laundry can weaken the wicker. It is
therefore better to use a plastic basket.
